Survey for the win!

1. What if your doctor said you were pregnant, what would you do?
Be very, very surprised.

2. Do you trust all of your friends?
All of my really close friends, yeah. Acquaintances and people I just occasionally hang out with, not necessarily

3. Would you move to another state or country?
Yeah! It'd be fun. I doubt I'll stay in IL my whole life, and living in another country would be AMAZING. I don't know if I'd want to live overseas permanently, but it could be sooooooo cool!

4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
I believe you want to believe everything happens for a reason. But no, 6 year olds don't get leukemia for a reason.

5. Name two things you would NOT tolerate in a relationship?
physical abuse, cheating

6. Name someone who would do anything for you?
Natalie and Jonathan

7. When was the last time you snuck out?
I've never snuck out. Why would I need to? I'm in college now, and in H.S. my parents just trusted me.

8. Are you afraid of falling in love?
Not really sure.

9. Is there a certain person who pops into your mind at random times more than others?
Tony, just because of how things are.

10. Would you stop talking to your friends because you hooked up with a new person?
Um..... can we get a HELL no in here? Seriously, ditching your friends because of a guy is pathetic, and shows up only in desperate middle schoolers and abusive relationships

11. When was the last time you flew in a plane?
Uhhh.... shoot. Um. I guess it was when I went to NY over winter break.

12. What did the last text message you sent say?
My phone has no screen... so I don't send text messages anymore... :(

13. What features do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
Eyes, hands, body type (I like 'em tallish and lanky)

14. Fill in the blank. I miss ________.
Carbondale. Natalie. My sanity (which went far far away after finals started kickin' in!).

15. What are your goals in life?
To be happy, really. Get as much education as possible because I want to know lots and lots of cool shit. Then just go out into the world and try to make myself and those around me happy.

16. How many girlfriends/boyfriends have told you "I love you"?
I've only had one, so, one.

17. When you get married, how would you envision your dream wedding?
Seriously, I'm 19. Don't go talking to me about marriage. That's insane.

18. When was the last time you cried?
I'm pretty sure this finals period has been one long string of crying jags as I try to type through the blurred vision from my tears... I'm a bit stressed, you see, and I cry rather easily.

19. If you were to wake up from being in a coma for an extended period of time, who are the main people you would call?
My parents. Tony, Natalie, Jon. Probably Matt and Ems, too.

20. How many kids do you want to have?
I'm NINETEEN. I don't want kids. I want to have FUN for a while before all that grownup boring shit starts happening.

21. Would you make a good parent?
How should I know?

22. Where is your default picture taken?
Well, my xanga one's just a drawing (not by me), but my facebook picture was taken at Steak 'n Shake when we all went out for Halloween. I really need to change that....

23. What is your middle name?
Kathleen. I be Mary Kathleen Ryan

24. Honestly, does your crush like you back?
Yes

25. Honestly, how much do you like your crush?
I'm not really comfortable discussing that one

26. Honestly, what's on your mind right now?
Those essays I need to be writing.

27. When is your next birthday?
I just had one, so, a long time from now.

28. Are you musical?
I love music! I sing show tunes all the time, and I was in Jazz Choir in high school (which was amazing)

29. If you could go back in time and change something, what would you change?
I don't know. There are things I wish hadn't happened, but I feel like you learn from those experiences and you wouldn't be the same person if they just hadn't happened. And nothing really REALLY traumatic ever occurred in my life, so I probably wouldn't do it. I'd be too scared of fuckin' something up.

30. What's your shoe size?
6, 6 1/2ish

31. What are you wearing right now?
My trusty Carbondale Speech Team shirt and a pair of baggy gym shorts that used to be Tony's. Meaning, I'm in my PJ's.

32. Righty or lefty?
Lefty all the way!

33. Can you make a dollar in change right now?
Yeah. My ID card just ran out of money, so I've been paying for almost everything in cash. I have change galore. Sidenote: "galore" is a weird but awesome word.

34. Best place to go for a date?
Shrug. If you love the person, any random place can be romantic.

35. Favorite jeans?
Don't really have a favorite. My old favorites got ripped in the crotch, so I don't really wear them too often anymore :D

36. Favorite food?
Chocolate. Chinese Food. But not chocolate chinese food. That would be SILLY.

37. Favorite animal?
Puppiez!

38. Favorite season?
SPRING.

39. Favorite drink?
Dr. Pepper

40. Have you had the chicken pox?
Yeah, when I was really little

41. Have you had a sore throat?
I have one right now. Of COURSE I would get sick during finals. God just loves me like that :D

42. Have you had plastic surgery?
Oh, sure. Boob job. Couldn't you tell?

43. Who knows you the best?
My mom. Nat & Jon

44. Do you wear contact lenses or glasses?
Glasses. I keep meaning to try contacts.

45. Do you get along with your family?
I get along with my parents very well.

46. Ever been in a fight with your pet?
That would be a kind of one-sided fight, wouldn't it?

47. Been to Mexico?
Nopes.

48. Did you talk to someone you like today?
I woke up about an hour ago.... so no.

49. Did you buy something today?
Again... woke up about an hour ago...

50. Did you get sick today?
I woke up coughing like a maniac, so... yes.

51. Did you talk to an ex today?
Not yet

52. Do you miss someone today?
I miss certain someones every day. (I'm looking at you, little miss GERMANY)

53. Did you get in a fight with someone today?
Myself. "Do your fuckin' essay!" "No, I don't want to!" "DO IT!" "NO!"

54. What're your plans for this upcoming weekend?
Finals, finals, finals, finals, finals.

55. Last person to sleep in your bed?
Me & my stuffed animals. If you mean other than me, then Tony. But that was a while ago.

56. Last person to see you cry?
Matt

57. Who made you cry?
It was the situation more than anything.

58. What was the last TV show you watched?
HOUSE! I watched two episodes last night.

59. Do you want something right now?
To go home. To figure out a lot of things. Food. I'd really like some of that. And a hug. I always want a hug :D

60. Are you satisfied with your life?
I'm sick and I still have four finals to contend with before Tuesday. No, I'm not particularly satisfied at this exact moment of my life. :P But if we're speaking generally, then yeah, I'm alright. :)

Aida (2000 Original Broadway Cast)

Hey ! Haven't updated in a while, so thought I might as well.

Let's see... went home this past weekend to see auditions for Aida, which, in case you didn't know, I'm ADing at McLeod this summer. The auditions went really well, and I'm pretty darn pleased with how the casting turned out. Khloe and Shakeia are going to bring the house down; there's no doubt in my mind.CJ (the director) and I are like something out of a vaudeville skit some times, I adore it.Tim is going to be a great vocal director-- he's got just the right amount of hardass in him to get really good stuff out of these kids. And the stage manager David seems like a pretty cool guy, too. So looks like it's shaping up to be a really wonderful summer.

Speaking of directing, my directing class is THE SHIT.
Seriously, though, it's killing me. There's SO MUCH TO LEARN and I feel like a complete idiot about... ohhhh.... 97% of the time. But that 3% of the time when something just snaps in my brain and I "get it"-- that's fucking awesome. The best part is really the class itself. It's a really nice group of kids, and Liz is fo' sho a GENIUS. I love the little rants she gets off on.... they're almost always relevant, but she also really wants us to become involved citizens. She's serious about this "art can change the world" coolness. I totally want people to riot in the streets after seeing one of my plays. It's awesome. I always come out of the class with something new to think about.
It's just when I'm on my own doing research/text analysis/etc.etc.etc. that I feel like I'm climbing Mount Everest in a sun dress and flip-flops.
As for rehearsals, I flip between being really excited and really frustrated. Not with the actors (who are doing absolutely fabulously, especially considering they're just volunteers doing me a favor), but with myself for not being able to visualize and communicate like I should.
The class is honestly so all-consuming that I sometimes forget I have other classes (whoops). But I do.

My Environmental Psych class, so far, is going wonderfully. Frank is just fabulous, as usual, and the class seems like a decent gang. Rosso's in there, so I've got some company. It's interesting stuff, too, which helps a lot. We're giving presentations on Thursday on our "physical traces" assignment, where we went around campus taking photos of signs that people have been there. Cool.

And Classical & Medieval Drama is fun, if only because it's DOC BOB and a crazy collection of theatre/classics kids. It's pretty sweet, but it often gets the shaft in my studying because I've already read so many of the Greek plays (the same translations, even), and my Directing and Enviro work are so often way more consuming on my brain.

As for non-school stuff.... This weekend will be Tony's and my 6th month anniversary. I might be going back to C'dale the weekend of the 13th or the 20th for another, less businessy trip. This is the funniest thing ever. Puppies are still cute. I really want to meet this guy, but I just found out he died in 1994.

That is all.
Love

So, Spring Break.

I'm feeling pretty good about it!

Had a wonderful trip to South Carolina, spent a lovely week on the beach with Mom, Dad, Jonathan & Tony. Bike rides, beach walks, snuggled-in movie nights. Peaceful, relaxing, perfect.

My one complaint is the fact that I've mysteriously lost a lot of hearing in my right ear, and it hurts from time to time. I'm getting it checked out tomorrow; it's most likely nothing. Shrug.

I don't know how I feel about going back, yet. The break doesn't feel long enough, and there's still so much I want to do while I'm here... stuff that needs to get checked out, time with Tony, food to eat, good movies to see in the theater...

Although I am looking forward to my classes this term. Classical & Medieval Drama, Environmental Psychology, and the impending doom of Directing.

Can't be as awful as rep term, though, so I'm feeling a bit optimistic.

Everything's lined up for me to AD this summer, and CJ's already emailed me, asking me what I'm looking for as far as responsibilities, and Tony's got a great job lined up in Florida. I don't know what the summer's going to be like without him around. I guess I'll find out.

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say. The Rep Term shows went well; and I'm very, very glad they're over.

Love.

Let Love In

Okay, so! Life update.

Let's see. Rep Term's obviously all "ooo crazy suck out your sooouull!!" and such. I was really kinda nervous about coaching my monologue, but when it actually happened-- it was pretty okay. Liz laughed and gave me a compliment (woot!). So, that was neat. Other interesting news, one of my costume shop projects is to make Evan Sawdey a pair of legwarmers for the Ragpicker in Madwoman. It started with razor-blading the arms off of 2 ratty old sweaters, and then stitching them together in a way that will let them have a lot of "give" still. I'm currently working on lining the tops so we can put elastic in them, and then we'll be adding little pieces of scrappy bits that will make them super fun. As for Dramaturgy, the big project we're working on currently is finding pictures for the slides in Working. So, that's pretty neat.

Everything's pretty stressful, and I sometimes feel like a special ed kid who's been accidentally thrown into AP Physics, but ... eh. It's just... so much new information, I wish I had time to process even half of it. It's a struggle not to get too down on myself when things get overwhelming, but I'm working on it.

As for this weekend, I managed to go home for less than 24 hours, but it was still very worth it. I feel bad that I wasn't around to work on stuff, but I needed to see my parents and Tony. It was a nice support-boost kind of thing, and it helped put a lot of things into perspective.

AND, bonus points! At the gas station on the Kickapoo exit as I was about 30 mi. outside of the 'Burg, there was a lovely sign taped to the gas pump that read: "Credit card receipt machine is burned up. Sorry."

Only the 'ed' was scratched off, and someone had helpfully supplied a 't', so that the first line now read: "Credit card receipt machine is burnt up." Someone clearly recognized that this was a grammatical error, and had crossed out the entire offensive segment of 'burnt up', and replaced it with the supposedly correct word, in a nice bold  black Sharpie. So it now read:

"Credit card receipt machine is broke." Three tries.... and we still fail miserably. Good work, public school system. Bravo. The really adorable part is-- they were actually trying!

But! I've digressed. Back to Rep Term-y news: I'm getting really excited about the shows and all. It's the scary kind of exciting.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself once spring break arrives. I mean, I'll obviously be having fun, but I imagine the days will suddenly seem a lot longer without something filling absolutely every minute of every day. Hmn.

I guess I'm ready to jump into another week of this. I have to be, don't I? And hey--! We're actually going to block the show! It's not like there's only 3 weeks until opening or anything... Haha

OKAY!

My weekend. Soooo awesome.

On Friday, after working a bit on publicity "off-the-clock" (although technically logging my hours still), I brought the latest episode of House over to Post 5 where Hayley, Liz, Meg (a Post 5-er), Ian, and John joined us to watch. We ordered Domino's and it was a super-de-dooper fabulous time, although I had a horrible realization that I was drinking flavored vitamin water that was "inspired by" rapper 50 Cent. Say... what? And it had the most horrifyingly atrocious description of itself on the back. But it was so tasty...

Anyway, we hung out for a bit after that; I introduced Liz to the magic of xkcd. The gang was also introduced to the infamous fetish map and the horrors of the AOL Search Log Special from the website Something Awful.I feel like, with all these links, I must be selling something.

After all that good timin', I went home to study my monologue. So that on

SATURDAY, I could meet with Liz to work on it. It was a good session, I think. I learned a lot of stuff to work on, and she wasn't too terribly intimidating. I love her, but she can scare the beejesus outta me sometimetimes.

After this, I picked up Hayley, Liz, and Meg to go run errands. We went to Walgreen's and Target, but I got a flat tire at some point... and after Target, we had to take it across a parking lot to a tire place. We went to Applebee's while he checked it out. The tire's shot (not literally, of course, that'd be insane), so he put the spare on and is going to order the replacement Monday.... the tires are brand-new, so this is really kinda lame. It's gonna be like, $90, too. Mom says to just put it on my debit card and she'll cover it... which is really nice. She wasn't mad or anything, either.

So then we dropped off some of Liz's clothes at the Salvation Army, and went back to campus for the "Female Orgasm" lecture, which was awesome. We then took the online "purity test," which was fun and revealing. Following this, I went over to Brian Camozzi and Josh Roberts's room for some good times with them and Matt, Ems, newly-met Ryan, and Laura.

Which I think I'll avoid elaborating on, at least publicly.

Today, I slept until like, 4. I'm currently in the Neal basement with Matt, and we will eventually be getting our homework done. It's been a really good weekend, and I think I'm rested up to get down to work this week. :)

Love!
